ICD-9-CM Coding for Home Care Clinicians

Thursday, January 10, 2008
9:30 am - 4:00 pm
Holiday Inn - Wolf Road, Albany, New York

Popular Trainer Trish Tulloch of RBC limited will be the faculty for this full day program designed especially for home care clinicians moving forward into 2008. The home health industry’s revised final Prospective Payment System (PPS) has made OASIS and ICD-9-CM coding absolutely critical to determine accurate reimbursement and drive quality outcome improvement. Experts and regulators agree that accurate selection and sequencing of clinical diagnoses can significantly impact an agency’s accurate reimbursement in 2008. This education program will provide detailed OASIS and diagnoses code updates critical to succeed in the revised PPS clinical case mix model. Expanded case mix diagnoses review, including common code inconsistencies and pitfalls, will be reviewed. Code sequencing and substantiation with the OASIS and clinical documentation will be the focus of multiple common home health scenarios. Coding mandates, exceptions and guidelines will be referenced in the home health context. Practical reference tools, small group exercises, and hands-on training will reinforce basic code and clinical documentation competencies VITAL for accuracy in the 2008 PPS Model.
