HCA members continue to garner media coverage on the impact of rising gasoline prices for home care providers, personnel and the patients they serve.

HCA Board Member Rae Szymanski, Executive Vice President/COO of Visiting Nurse Association of Hudson Valley, and VNA Nurse Margaret DiLascio participated in two recent television news segments on this issue covered by WNBC-TV of New York City and the Hudson Valley's News Channel 12.

The reports highlighted the challenges home care providers, personnel and patients are experiencing as a result of the volatile fuel market and the ways agencies are using technology, like home telehealth, to adapt to market conditions.

HCA continues to work with provider members on bringing media attention to this issue.

Two HCA members recently had newspaper letters to the editor published on the home care impact of rising gas prices. A letter by Cheryl Bowhall, Executive Director of Liverpool-based St. Joseph's Homecare, appeared in the Syracuse Post Standard on July 6. Also, Carol Weber, President and CEO of Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester, had a letter published by the Journal News of Westchester County on July 8.
