Dear HCA Member:

As the home care community confronts unprecedented new challenges seemingly at every corner, it isn't enough to simply play defense. Continuing in HCA's tradition of progressive and proactive leadership on behalf of New York's home care community, we have strived this year — even in the face of historic proposed funding cuts and a new depth of onerous government mandates and systemic pressures on home care — to elevate our already top-notch advocacy, policy, and educational operation in several important ways that distinguish us among our peers.
These efforts to reach new heights as an organization have all been drawn from the strategic wisdom, unparalleled expertise, creative drive, and insightful forethought not only of HCA's staff but of an engaged, resourceful, and passionate membership and Board of Directors who all share a common set of goals and values. It is this unique culture at HCA that I am proud to be a part of, as should every HCA member who contributes to the exchange of ideas and action within our organization.
As the premier state home care association, we have achieved many successes that position us well for 2010, which may well be the most difficult year yet for the home care community and the health care sector generally. HCA greatly appreciates your membership and we value your guidance, support and engagement in our association. I believe that collectively we will not only continue to meet the challenges ahead with vigor and energy, but we can use the upcoming difficult budget year as an opportunity to position ourselves as a vital component of the health care continuum that must not only be preserved and protected, but supported and nurtured.
Please take a moment to read HCA's Membership Value Statement document, which outlines the many successes we have achieved over the past several months as well as the other benefits of your membership in HCA. I ask that you not only join our membership organization as a valued member in 2010, but that you plan to participate as an active and engaged member to help strengthen our collective voice on behalf of home care in New York State. This year, our voice as a membership and as an association must be louder, more articulate, and more forceful that ever before — to ensure our continued success in representing the best of what home care offers our patients, families and communities.
I am proud to lead your association and I look forward to continuing our aggressive advocacy to solve and mitigate the toughest challenges you face. Please complete the enclosed membership renewal application for 2010. HCA looks forward to serving you.
Sincerely,
Joanne Cunningham
