A Statement by HCA President Joanne Cunningham on Governor Cuomo’s State of the State Address
Governor Cuomo'sproposed Medicaid stakeholder process can represent a new chance for positive change in the Medicaid program if it promotes efficiency while preserving what is good and workable about our system. It also needs to include all stakeholder voices and must keep to the Governor's pledge of developing sound alternatives to draconian reimbursement cuts.
There are many opportunities for enhancing the Medicaid program, and home care is an essential part of this process. HCA will continue to offer our own ideas for saving Medicaid dollars by further drawing upon the inherent cost-efficiency of New York's home care system, which allows patients to avoid higher-cost services, remain in their homes, and get the vital care management services they need.
The Home Care Association of New York State (HCA), the state’s premier home care association, represents more than 400 providers, individuals, and associate members who collectively serve thousands of New Yorkers.
